The Industrial Power Consumers Association of Alberta ("IPCAA") is an organization of large industrial customers whose mission is to take a leadership role in ensuring that a competitive marketplace exists for electrical services. It comprises companies from such key industries as oil and gas, forest products, petrochemicals and steel.

Alberta's electric industry has undergone a major restructuring leading to the eventual deregulation of generation and major changes in transmission service. Although the major changes have been made, there is continual evolution and fine tuning, which can affect power costs to electric users. IPCAA has been actively involved in all aspects of the restructuring process including policy development, power pool operations and transmission issues. Membership in IPCAA enables each company to have input into the process, to exchange views and information, and to take advantage of the combined strength provided by an organization speaking as one unified voice to government and other key participants.

Mission Statement

The IPCAA mission is to take a leadership role in achieving a fair, open and efficient marketplace for electricity sales and service in Alberta.

This will be done through a strategic planning process, an educated and informed membership, active lobbying with the government and other stakeholders, and by extensive and comprehensive interventions in regulatory proceedings relevant to the electrical market.
